The Hawaii State Capitol in Honolulu is unlike any other state capitol in the United States. With its open-air dome, central mosaic courtyard, and surrounding reflecting pools (currently under renovation), the building reflects the islands it represents. As part of our 50 State Capitols Challenge, this stop revealed how Hawaii’s government space is deeply connected to its landscape, culture, and history.
